Commissions Re-Opened
Just to let everyone know, I have recently been re-designing our personal family website to provide a signal boost to myself and for Mum's books. (Please note, the website is still WIP, but it's basically functional. The Contact form doesn't work yet, as I don't know how that's coded to actually send to email) As some of you may or may not know, Mum has written quite a number of books, and I have created a few myself! I have also updated my commission prices. Books: http://www.normington.me.uk/Books.html Commissions: http://www.normington.me.uk/Commissions.html
Goodbye Faramir
Well, we all knew it was coming sooner or later... but this is sooner. Over the last few days, following his 18th birthday (the oldest cat we've ever had), Faramir's age suddenly seemed to catch up with him. He was off his food, barely showing interest in anything and only getting up to drink water or use the litterbox. We took him to the vet today to get checked out, and we saw this very nice man. Although we didn't want to put him through the stress of blood tests or anything invasive, he was able to tell us on examination that he was showing signs of kidney failure (as we suspected), his blood count was low and his heart was slow for a cat of his age. In effect, he was basically old and tired of life, so it was kinder in the long run to let him go to rest. Farewell, old man. You've had a good life. We'll meet again someday, on the other side of those pearly gates.
Holiday in Wales and Farewell Queen Elizabeth II
Well, with that latest post of my Pose Practice I will be a little less active on DA for a little while. We're going on a family holiday to North Wales for the week! :D I probably should have mentioned this sooner, but I seem to be so lax about posting status and journal updates on DA these days. I guess that's partly because it's become less important as a social outlet, what with all these "fix what isn't broken" updates... 😅 WiFi and phone signal permitting, I should still be able to keep up with the odd contact with friends, but we'll probably be going to a few places most days - so long as the weather behaves. In the meantime, aside from a few things I'd like to draw for myself, I really ought to try and make some sort of tribute to our dearly departed Queen Elizabeth II, who recently went to reunite with her husband and meet the true King of Kings (and Queens) on 8th September. God bless you, Liz!
What's in a Name
So I recently saw a similar journal by @Ferroth and I figured it’d be interesting to look at where my own characters came from too. And yet, while looking at the logical process of naming everyone, I also couldn’t help but look at where they came from too; how they came to be who they are now. Because some of these guys (especially the longstanding ones) have gone through a lot of change since the first day they appeared on paper. Frederick James Wilkinson You might think I’d start off with my fursona, Danbuster? Well, when it comes down to it, of my existing OCs, Frederick actually came first somehow. It all started off with a chance remark, one day when I was on a bus coming home from school, when I was in my mid-teens. Standing downstairs, I heard some sort of disturbance on the upper deck. Some schoolgirls were screaming about something… I don’t know what… but still, being in a flippant frame of mind, I jokingly remarked to some nearby old lady, “So THAT’S where my pet ferret
