.: On our way! :.

Things have finally got moving since my last journal - now the date for the move is definitely October 28th
So, if I should happen to be absent during the Halloween period, you'll know the reason why.

Already we're in the process of packing stuff ready to go, even clearing our desk. Already, I have disconnected my webcam, scanner and Wacom tablet to put in their boxes. There's only the bare essentials online now.
This doesn't mean I can't still trace my vector-drawings of my pencil art in Flash - I use the mouse for that, and there's still a number of scanned images waiting... ;)

Now I just hope that we can get organised at the other end quickly.
Here's also hoping that the move will prove advantageous to us. Apparently, the unemployment figures in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk are significantly lower compared to the unemployment-blackspot that Thanet has become - even around Mildenhall! Let's therefore hope I find a job worthy of my skills... :fingerscrossed:

Meanwhile, Dad will then be able to get to his new Cambridge-based job quicker and more consistently. Hopefully, he'll also be able to get a new car, so that he doesn't have to keep borrowing mine - then at least he'll get that car-allowance they promised to pay for at work.

Talking of cars, that's another piece of news! Our minister's wife had a nearly-new Ford Focus Ghia that she didn't need any more. Since she heard that I was looking for a new car myself, since the old Fiat has simply "done it's time" for me, she offered to sell it to me! After consultation with Dad, who knows the Ford to be a good model, I agreed. The price was a great deal cheaper than I would have got from a dealer, but that plus the insurance, breakdown cover, etc has been enough to virtually empty my eSavings. Still, I'm hoping it's a worthwhile investment, and I'm sure I'll soon get it back - if not from saving up my Jobseekers Allowance as I always have, here's hoping I'll get a job in or around Mildenhall, then I'll be a lot better off overall - not to mention helping Mum & Dad to support the household!

.: A new little brother! :.

Today also brought another piece of big news. Mum had another baby today... [link] :XD:
His name is Tyndale - after a great man. Namely, the guy who first attempted to translate the Bible from its original Hebrew and Greek into English. [link]
Unfortunately, his noble efforts were not appreciated by the Roman Catholic Church, who, in those days, seemed to believe for some unknown reason that the Bible was not meant to be read and understood by the mere laymen - I dunno, I guess power to the church was more important than them than actually saving lost souls...? Then again, it's probably not much different from some of our contemporaries...

Anyway, he's a six-week-old kitten that Mum got from an old friend whose cat recently had a litter of seven healthy littl'uns. They're part rag-doll, and were really cute. Three ginger males, two black-and-white males (I think) and two tortoise-shell females, one of which was really tiny and considered the "runt"... actually, she seemed just as fit as the others, if not moreso... :giggle:

The idea was that he would be a playmate for Mum's other kitten Jaspurr (now nine months old), since my own cat Faramir (7) is such a miserable old grouch! :XD:
Sure, my cat can get along if he feels like it, but whenever he gets pounced on - or even touched in passing, sometimes - he howls most vehemently! He never did like being handled, really...
Ah well, Tyndale came into the house and was immediately introduced to Jaspurr... and it seems they've taken to each other straightaway! [link] :aww:

.: At home :.

Well, not sure what else I can say now, really, except that I'm still working on-and-off at certain random pictures. You may have seen my recent rendition of Martin the Warrior and Gonff the Mousethief - and also a couple of background characters from Danbuster's world (a Baptist minister and a weiner-dog PC) There may be more to look forward to... ;)

Meanwhile, I really feel I should try and do something useful.
I hope to work on something with that Darien the Dart game idea, but at the moment I am still waiting for a little input from some friends who offered to help out.
I also need to reform my Dan Clan story into a script or something. Writing novels about cartoony adventures won't work, so I should really seriously consider animating it properly and not being such a lazy blighter... ^^;

I hear on the grapevine that Sonic Generations is actually coming to the PC - just as well, since the Wii was excluded! I can't afford to buy an XBox - especially after what I paid for my new car!
That said, however, there will be a few things I still need to buy... such as a SCART-hub for the TV, since we have a VHS, DVD, Nintendo Wii, but only two SCART ports; a KVM-switch for my computer, so that I can still connect the old XP-system to my I/O peripherals (in case I need it); and also important - an inexpensive graphics card with a good benchmark! With me standing to get the Tomb Raider Legend trilogy for Christmas, and perhaps Sonic Generations as well, I'll need a graphics card to meet the spec! :giggle:

.: Pesky random facts thing :.

And since I was tagged by :iconjublenarris: :shakefist:

Rules:
1) You must post these rules (VERY Important )
2) Each person must post 10 things about themselves on their journal.
3) Answer the following questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create ten new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4) You have to choose 10 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
5) Go to their pages and tell them you have tagged her/him.
6) No tag backs
7) No crap in the tagging section about "you are tagged if you're reading this." You legitimately (AKA, really, truly with all honesty) have to tag 10 people

Ready to begin? =) Ok! Let's go!

10 things about me:

1) I am really not very good at thinking of random facts about myself.

2) Ergo, I really hate this random facts quiz, and wish people wouldn't keep tagging me when it comes around to them again!

3) I'm 27 years old and I still like kid's shows - only the old classics, mind you. You can keep the crap they churn out these days...

4) While I can draw animals and swords and things, I'm not so hot on scenery - I actually do better with interior décor than with landscapes, though.

5) I am a tolerant Christian. While I may not agree with everyone's views, I don't force my opinions down their throats.

6) While I have dabbled in 3D animation, I think I prefer Flash, even if it is only 2D - building 3D character models takes too long, and frankly I don't find them as versatile as 2D Flash animations, where I can easily animate expressions, poses, etc frame-by-frame without having to completely re-rig the whole model!

7) I'm something of a staunch fan of things I'm considered "too old" for, particularly Redwall and Sonic the Hedgehog.

8) I like classical music, as well as some modern music - but whatever genre it is, it must have good lyrics, good arrangement and a good tune - a combination of all three is even better. It has to be performed well, of course.
(Generally speaking, I hate these "Award Bait" songs at the end of Disney movies, where some cacophonous American singers massacre an otherwise-good song from the main feature - they always turn them into a contest to see who can out-scream the other! Actually, along those lines, the "Somewhere Out There" number from "An American Tail" was an inversion of this. The boy who sang in the film was so jarringly awful that I have to either leave the room or fast-forward past that bit - and the Award Bait song at the end is actually good by comparison!)

9) I am easily sidetracked... which is why it can take me ages to complete a big project sometimes - if I'm not dragged away to do some inconsequential chore around the house, that is!

10) I am glad this quiz is now over!

Meh, never mind what Rule #7 says - I wouldn't want to burden other people with this stupid quiz.

.: Is Danbuster a Gary-Stu? :.

Let's see which of these points Danbuster lights up... ;)

I pinched this from :iconbfoxkk: a long time ago, but never got round to completing one for the journal!

[:bulletblack:] They are possessed by an angel
[:bulletblack:] They are possessed by a demon
[:bulletblack:] They are a werewolf/vampire/faerie
[:bulletblack:] They are physically strong
[:bulletyellow:] They have a rare hair/fur colour (I guess you can count his wild fuzzy hairstyle) :XD:
[:bulletblack:] Their eyes are an unusual colour
[:bulletblack:] This happens to be red
[:bulletblack:] Their eyes change colour
[:bulletblack:] They have wings
[:bulletblack:] They can grow extra body parts/shapeshift
[:bulletblack:] They are immortal (A nigh-indestructible cartoon character, yes... but not immune to death)
[:bulletblack:] (if a female) they have large boobs
[:bulletblack:] (if a male) they are very muscular
[:bulletyellow:] They are very attractive to the opposite gender (Your mileage may vary - he has a certain charm?)
[:bulletblack:] They are telekinetic/pyrokinetic/etc (Nah, just mad!) :XD:
[:bulletblack:] They have sixth sense/can mind-read/etc
[:bulletyellow:] They have an object of some sort that gives them powers (His sporran counts for that - it gives him access to hammerspace and allow him to manipulate cartoon physics!)

[:bulletblack:] They were bestowed/cursed with these powers
[:bulletblack:] They are a healer

[:bulletyellow:] They have lots if morals and state them a fair bit for example: 'I would rather be with my friends than with my boyfriend/girlfriend' 'Nothing matters more to me than my friends/family' 'I wouldn't hesitate to die in place of a friend' etc. It's fine if your OC has these beliefs/values, but if they constantly say them out loud/preach them to others, then we have a problem. (I guess Danbuster has a lot of moral views, and he's not afraid to show the villains he fights that he means business...)
[:bulletblack:] They have a mental disorder (No serious mental disorder - he's just a March Hare. They're naturally crazy!)
[:bulletblack:] They have an emotional disorder
[:bulletyellow:] They struggle to stay sane (All the time!) :giggle:

[:bulletblack:] They were born on an important date, such as New Year's Eve, Midsummers Night, The Winter Solstace etc.
[:bulletyellow:] They have a twin/sibling that they were separated from at birth (That's Retsubnad, and they were certainly seperated at birth... but Retsy is the one who was torn away from the main family unit, while Dan had the normal upbringing)
[:bulletblack:] They are connected with a certain element
[:bulletyellow:] They are connected with a certain animal (He's a hare - that's connection enough, I reckon?)
[:bulletblack:] They always dress like a certain 'label'
[:bulletblack:] They look quite a bit like a character from a popular anime/manga
[:bulletblack:] They are a race/species that is discriminated against/misunderstood
[:bulletblack:] They have a certain power that is misunderstood/feared
[:bulletblack:] They live/lived on the streets at some point in their lives
[:bulletblack:] They are hiding from someone/something
[:bulletblack:] They have a rare blood type
[:bulletblack:] They cry blood
[:bulletblack:] Certain noises/smells/situations/etc make their powers activate/give them a nervous breakdown
[:bulletblack:] They are from a different country to where they live
[:bulletblack:] They are very mysterious/dark
[:bulletyellow:] They are very lively/happy (You'd better believe it!) :D
[:bulletyellow:] Their mood changes a lot/very quickly (He's certainly unpredictable, as befits a Mad March Hare)

Take points off your OCs overall score if they fit any of the following statements:

[:bulletblack:] They smoke
[:bulletblack:] They are an alcoholic
[:bulletblack:] They are overweight
[:bulletblack:] They are addicted to drugs
[:bulletblack:] They have a short temper
[:bulletblack:] They enjoy bullying others
[:bulletblack:] They do not care much about others
[:bulletblack:] They are emotionless

Final Score is:
---12---

<5 -Anti-Sue :bulletblack:
Your character may be a bit on the boring side. Of course, this does depend, but generally if they are scoring that low, it wouldn't hurt to 'spice them up' a bit ^^

6-15 -Balanced Character :bulletyellow:
If your OC scored around here, then they are probably quite a well-balanced and interesting character. Those scoring in the higher end of this category may be a bit too much though.

16-25 -Borderline Mary-Sue :bulletblack:
We have a problem. You need to tone your character down. They are most likely a bit annoying to others, too.

I guess he's OK then! :D

.: Danbuster Signing Off :.

And, I don't think I have anything further to add - so in the words of Marquila... Pax vobiscum! Salutare!! (Peace be with you! Greetings!!):salute:

Until I get back online, when the move is completed and we're a little more organised... ;)

.: UPDATE!! :.

Damnit!! Delays! Delays! Nothing but delays!
Forget what I said earlier about October 28th - there's been nothing but deferments regarding this whole move-business!
We're all set to go at this end, but our vendors at the other end are having trouble getting out of the house they sold us... something to do with being unable to get a mortgage sorted out (due to a conveniently-absent solicitor/banker/whatever), and them trying to get rented accommodation. :disbelief:
We're now hoping that the move-date may be confirmed tomorrow, if there's no further demonic intervention... but I'm not holding my breath! I'm just going to say - I don't know when the flippin' heck we'll be moving!
All I hope is that the move will be completed during the reign of the present monarch!

And just to add injury to insult, our new kitten Tyndale got ill today and Mum took him to the vet! I only hope he recovers quickly, because we really don't need more stress on top of the long-deferred move!

.: UPDATE TWO!! :.

OK, looks like we have a plan - albeit not an ideal one. If only to keep the sale on our own house going, we'll have to break the chain and move up to Mildenhall to take up rented accommodation for a while, while Halifax get their act together in getting our vendors' mortgage fixed.

Hopefully, it'll only be a short while... :fingerscrossed:

Thanks - that would be appreciated, sometime during the next year or so, yeah...! ;)
I know what I'm like for forgetting things myself, though - and trying to settle myself down on various projects!

Congrats with the new brother! As is the law of that siblings, the older brother must demonstrate dominance over the younger sibling, forcing him to do whatever he wants, no matter how cruel or unfair it is! (Wish I could've been like that...)

Thanks! :) Well, the kitten seems to be recovering now... I won't say he's fully-recovered yet, as I'm afraid I might jinx it - like I probably jinxed the move by saying it was going ahead tomorrow!
Something better come up soon, otherwise we may even be forced to take up rented accommodation in Mildenhall, just to get the (cube-shaped) ball rolling!
