A little something I've been procastinating over for months, but this is an entry for a contest on :iconmobianministry:
Shadow Comes to Know the Lord

Based more on symbolism than actual 'real' situation from the Sonic universe, I guess.
This was inspired by an illustration from a modern-translation book I have of "The Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan, with Shadow the Hedgehog taking the place of the character of Christian.

Shadow saw a cross standing before him. Struggling under the weight of his Burden (figuratively, his sins, worries and bad things from his past, represented by a sack of rocks strapped to his back), he approached the cross with a sense of hope - an emotion he had never felt before. Could this be the cross he had been told about, to which one professing to be the Son of God had been nailed centuries ago?
Even as he drew near, the Burden was loosed from his back and tumbled back down the hill behind him until it was gone from sight.
He understood at last. The One who had died here had come as an ultimate sacrifice to atone for all the wrong things he had ever done.
It also occurred to him that He who had died here had also been risen from the dead, showing that death was not the end but the beginning. Even the Ultimate Lifeform now had a hope for Eternal Life beyond his ageless existence in this world. He knew that one day the Day of Judgement would come and he could at last be free.
